Meet Pat Grabowsk

Patrick (or Pat—he answers to both!) brings over 20 years of experience as a physical therapist and healthcare educator to O’Brien Physical Therapy & Wellness. He holds a PhD in Neuromotor Control from UW–Madison and a Master’s in Physical Therapy from Marquette University. A lifelong learner and educator, he’s trained thousands of future clinicians, published research in orthopedics and sports rehab, and helped secure nearly $2 million in research grants.

Patrick’s clinical career has taken him to elite orthopedic clinics in Vail, Madison, and now La Crosse, where he’s cared for everyone from high-level athletes to everyday people working toward recovery and strength.

More about me

Why Its Like To Work With Patrick

Every session with Patrick is grounded in science and shaped by empathy (and usually a dash of sarcastic humor). He’s adaptable, honest, and known for turning PT visits into unexpectedly good conversations. If you're a curious teen athlete or a motivated adult, be ready—you're going to leave with both less pain and a better understanding of your anatomy.

Why He Chose Physical Therapy

Patrick is endlessly fascinated by the nervous system and human movement. He believes in conservative care when possible, celebrates progress big and small, and is motivated by helping patients avoid unnecessary medications or surgery.

Life Outside the Clinic

If he's not teaching or treating, you’ll find Patrick outside—trail running, fishing, golfing, hiking, or skiing. And yes, he has plans to BASE jump in a flying squirrel suit on his 90th birthday (his wife has agreed… sort of).

A Few Favorite Moments

From helping a World Cup skier reach the podium after a last-minute injury to inspiring a former patient to become a PT herself, Patrick treasures every story where healing leads to transformation.
